Broc-Ko is a rocking chair inspired by the ancient board game of Go, also called Baduk or Weiqi. The design interprets a common game situation called Ko and puts it in a new context.
Ko is an fundamental constellation in the game of Go which occurs at least once per game. Without a certain rule for the situation, the game could continue endlessly from this point but would not make any progress as the players would repeat their only viable moves over and over again.
Broc-Ko plays with this absence of progress aswell as the tension a Ko creates in a game. The rocking chair can be assembled without any screws or tools. Its structural integrity is achieved using a combination of metal straps, wedges and special CNC-milled undercut joints on the bottom of the seat.
