Hex2800

Hex2800

Hex2800 is a architectural installation that was developed for a specific space inside of the school of art and design in Kassel (Kunsthochschule Kassel). It was designed using generative design methods and explores the potential of sheet material components approximating a doubly curved surface.

The fabrication was done using a three axis CNC milling machine and it was manually assembled during one week. The structure is composed from 2800 individual parts of high density fibreboard and the hexagonal modules are held together by 400 bookbinder's screws.
